Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist (MBCAP)

About Me
As an Integrative therapist I have an understanding of various therapeutic frameworks: such as Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT). Given our unique life experience, background and preferences there is no 'one size fits all approach' to therapy therefore the Integrative approach allows me to tap into different ways to best support you, depending on who you are and what brings you to therapy.
I facilitate a space where you will be able to explore and unearth different parts of yourself at your own pace. My training is rooted in the Person-Centred approach which means our work will be collaborative and rooted in respect with you, the client rooted at the heart of all decisions. You will typically lead the content for sessions and my role is to support you in making sense of what you bring, help to identify themes and ultimately work towards finding a way through.
As Black woman, it is imperative to my work as a practitioner that everyone working with me feels comfortable in bringing their whole selves into the room. I provide warm and welcoming space for individuals from all walks of life no matter their circumstances, gender identity, sexual preference, race, religion, class or otherwise.
The relationship between Client and Therapist has been proven to be a huge factor in the success of therapeutic outcomes. Because of this, building a strong, trusting mutually respectful relationship with my clients is the bedrock of my work and I encourage them to feedback on how they are feeling about the work so we can make sure you get the most out of our time together.
My background is in the advertising industry so I am well versed in being in a corporate environment and have experience supporting clients through burn out, toxic work cultures and supporting individuals through career-based lifestyle changes.
Qualification, Experience & Background
I have been in private practice for 3 years, working with adults in person and online.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from The University of East London and have worked at The Awareness Centre in London and Mind as well as voulenteering at Battersea Befriender Network where I worked with individuals who were isolated from society due to mental health conditions.
My commitment to the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) sees me partake in Continuous Professional Development, frequently undergoing training and research around which supports me to further broaden my worldview.
I am an avid reader and sometimes recommend relevant material to my clients in the form of psychoeducation.
