How I can help you

Has something happened recently to throw you off balance or have you been carrying something that has been troubling you? Maybe you are experiencing problems in your relationships, in your responses to those around you, or in how you feel about yourself.

Are you feeling lonely or isolated? Perhaps you do not want others to worry or think they may misunderstand you.

You may be struggling with an earlier or recent bereavement or be carrying a sense of loss in other ways - regarding a relationship breakdown, or for who you are or have become.

I can support you with anxiety, low mood/depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties and losses, family problems, loneliness, and struggles with a sense of belonging and identity.

In addition to these concerns, I have an interest in the passing on of family trauma, its history, and related transgenerational issues, as well as problems that may arise from social class and cross-cultural expectations and differences.

How I work

In our sessions, I will listen to what you bring with respect, care, and compassion. You may currently feel stuck and be unsure of how to feel better. Sharing will bring a sense of relief and provide an opportunity to untangle your thoughts and reflect on what has happened, how you view yourself and how you relate to others.

I will be gently curious about your memories and the experiences you have had - our emotional responses and ways of relating in the present can often be traced back to earlier times - I will help you to explore and make sense of these connections, at your own pace.

During our sessions, I will get to know you and you will find out about yourself through our relationship. You are an expert on yourself, and I will be led by you. We will work together to notice and understand patterns of thinking and behaviour that may no longer be helpful to you, represent who you are or would like to be.

What happens next?

If you email me, I will get back in contact to arrange a suitable time to call you. During this phone call, which is free and will last 20 minutes, you will be able to tell me a little more about what has brought you to counselling and I will answer any questions that you may have. If you decide to continue, we will arrange an initial assessment.
